Proviron is an orally administered androgenic drug called Mesterolone (1-methyldihydrotestosterone). Mesterolone is a strong androgen and has weak anabolic activity. This is because, like dihydrotestosterone, Mesterolone is rapidly reduced in muscle tissue to inactive diol metabolites, where the enzyme 3-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase levels are quite high.
Proviron effects
You should not seriously believe that the weak anabolic nature of this compound causes androgen receptor blockage in muscle tissue, thereby reducing the benefits of other steroids that are more effective at building muscle. In fact, because Mesterolone has a very high affinity for plasma proteins such as SHBG, it can actually affect the activity of other steroids, converting a greater proportion of them into a free, unbound form.
In athletes, Proviron is mainly used to increase androgen levels during dieting or competition preparation, and as an anti-estrogen due to its ability to inhibit aromatase enzymes. Proviron can be effective in increasing the androgen to estrogen ratio, which increases muscle hardness and density, maintains libido and general well-being, and increases fat burning tendencies. It is also widely used to prevent gynecomastia, while other aromatizing steroids are often used in combination with 10-20 mg of Nolvadex per day.
Instructions
Many bodybuilders prefer to use Proviron during cutting cycles or when preparing for a competition, when low estrogen and high androgen levels are especially important.
The usual dosage for male athletes is 50-150 mg of Proviron per day, or 2-6 25 mg tablets. The drug is usually taken in cycles of 6-12 weeks, which is enough to see results.
Side effects
Proviron does not aromatize in the body and has no detectable estrogenic activity. The use of an anti-estrogen is not necessary when using this steroid, as the drug does not cause gynecomastia, water retention, or other estrogen-related side effects. Proviron acts as an anti-aromatase in the body, preventing or delaying the conversion of steroids into estrogens.
Mesterolone is classified as an androgenic steroid. Androgenic side effects of this substance are quite common and may include oily skin, blackheads, and body or facial hair growth. Anabolic-androgenic steroids can also worsen male pattern baldness. Women should be aware of the possible virilizing effects of anabolic-androgenic steroids. These may include deepening of the voice, menstrual irregularities, changes in skin texture, facial hair growth, and clitoral enlargement.
Proviron is not a 17-alpha-basic compound and has no known hepatotoxic effects, so hepatotoxicity is unlikely.
Proviron has very little inhibitory effect on gonadotropins and testosterone. Studies show that when administered in moderate doses (150 mg or less per day), testosterone levels do not decrease significantly. In studies, the substance is able to suppress testosterone strongly at higher doses (300 mg per day or more).
